In July, Elise went on a youth mission trip to California. They couldn't have their phones at the camp or on the mission sites, so the only pics we have are of the touristy things they did in between ;)
Elise said the best service days were working at the food bank. They packaged loads of fresh produce and learned about the areas needs. They also spent time weeding gardens and moving dirt at the campground.
They had Bible study and devotions on the beach and learned about caring for the earth and each other.
While back in Nebraska, we were fighting temperatures over 100 degrees, the youth were struggling to stay warm in California. This first picture is the day they arrived and they were freezing!
They tried to see the Golden Gate Bridge. Can you spot it?
The clouds were very low.
She's still smiling though!
Recreating fun pics at iconic restaurants!
One day they got to go surfing. Although this was a bucket list event for Elise, she ended up hating it. This pic was taken before she knew that she was not made to surf.
The boardwalk was a lot more fun! She made so many new friends on this trip!
Corn dog on a stick!
They travelled around the city and to the work sites in these 15 passenger vans.
Group dinner at Maggiano's.
Elise's friends love to take pics in front of fun backdrops!
On the day before heading home, they went to Alcatraz and tried one more time to see the Golden Gate Bridge.
Success!
This was a trip filled with tons of great memories and friends.
