It's hard to believe that I am sitting in the living room with my feet up and Easter is almost over. At both work and home, we've spent the last few weeks preparing for this day and the past week has been jam-packed with all kinds of meaningful events and rehearsals.
Here is a picture from last Sunday at our traditional Palm Procession. Elise was one of the leaders who led the kids around the worship center. Here are a few of her fans...
However, she doesn't have as many fans as Jesus! This worship service was packed with kiddos and was counted a success because we didn't lose anyone... (although we did gain one 2 year old when we got back to the classrooms!)
On Tuesday we had our final dress rehearsal for the Maundy Thursday and Good Friday Reenactment services. Since there aren't a lot of children's events during this time, I am able to participate in the choir and I took this pic from my choir seat. Elise was determined to sit through the whole reenactment this year and did so with help from her friend, Eden. "Mom, our hands were sweaty because I held her hand so tight!" That's true friendship :)
On Wednesday, Dad and Linda stopped through and we had dinner together at Fuzzy's Tacos and then went to a reflective worship service. Afterward, Elise and I had choir rehearsal for Easter morning. I had fun practicing Hallelujahs after so many weeks of singing minor keys!
For the Seder Meal this year we were to bring bread for our table. We had to make two batches as the first one did not turn out. The Seder Meal is one of Elise's favorite activities during Holy Week and we have done this for the past several years. It's an interactive ceremony of remembrance and ritual, plus we get to eat fried chicken for dinner so how could it not be her favorite?
After spending Saturday morning at church rehearsing and decorating the
building for the Easter celebration, Elise wanted to decorate eggs.
This was the first year that all 5 of us have been at the same church on Easter morning!
Scott led the brass section at our church today. Lots of people enjoyed his addition to the section.
In addition to singing in the adult choir, Elise participated in the
drama and again had a little fan club.
I was able to catch these three in between clothing changes. #sisters
Eliot and Adrienne met us at church for the last service so we could sit together. When we got home we thought we should take a few pics while we were all dressed up and together!
By 4:00 we had dinner on the table. Ham and more veggies than anyone knows what to do with along with Seder bread and handmade sorbet from Adrienne for dessert.
And now it's time to watch basketball and scroll through
social media to see everyones pics from the day.
Easter blessings!
