Back to School

Elise started 4th grade yesterday. We usually run out the door about 8:45 to meet Lilly and get to school. At 8:20, families were walking by the house.
After we realized that our clocks were not slow and that we were not late, we sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful weather and all the eager-beaver families that strolled by.
At 8:45, this one came out...
And the mommies walked them to school where I got lots of last minute hugs from a suddenly nervous girl, who was then whisked away, into the chaos and smiles and hurts and learning and friends and boys and laughs and gross lunches and girl drama... sigh... life can be rough, especially when you are 9.

But the day went great. She loves her teacher, Mrs. McCright,
... and she handled day 1 drama with confidence,
... and she didn't completely fail her timed test, so what more can we ask?

This one left at 6:40am today to start his junior year.
He even let me take a picture of him in the street! He will travel between two schools this year, his home school and the ITFP (Information Technology Focus Program...basically, a computer school). He will get to drive himself. He won't run cross country because he got his dream job working at Scheel's. He will start studying for the ACT. And, he will probably drive his mom insane by being out with friends every chance he gets.

Goodbye summer- you sure felt short this year!
Hello, 2013-2014. Please, be gentle with us.
