Was this a normal week?

What an emotional week this has been!

The evil:
-Bombings at the Boston Marathon
-Fertilizer plant blast in Texas
-Rape and torture of 5 year old in India
-Lock down and man-hunt of the Boston bombers... (I read somewhere that a "man-hunt" is what single women do, and a "coward hunt" is what was going on in Boston)
-Holding your sobbing 9-year old as it sinks in that bad things happen and God doesn't stop it.

The blessings:
-Finding hope in the stories of people who ran toward the victims to help, of people giving their medals to those who didn't get to finish, of people offering their couches to sleep on...
-Finding humor and laughing even when it feels like you should only be crying... Watch this video, we've laughed more times than we should have: How animals eat their food. Whale!
-Finding beauty even when you don't want to see it...
-When your husband agrees to go on a date night and even lets you pick the movie: Admission, because I had had enough violence for one week.
-Watching your 9-year old work through memorizing scripture. This week was Matthew 5:14-16. You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl.  Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.  In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.
