OK- bear with me as this post is going to have a LOT of pictures. I promise that many of them will make you smile!
First of all, last week we got a new car. It is a 2011 Honda Insight. It's cute and sporty and can get 40mpg in the city because it is a HYBRID! It's perfect for us 99% of the time as usually its just me and Eliot and Elise toolin' around town.
However,...
Scott asked us to join him this weekend at the Holiday Pops Concert that he was playing in Des Moines... Of course we wanted to go. Everyone loves fireworks, and outdoor concerts, and fancy hotels with great breakfasts, and swimming pools... and, of course, everyone will love to drive 3 hours each way in the brand new TINY car!

Here's Eliot and Elise while we're waiting to pick up Scott from his office...
Here's Adrienne as my co-pilot...
Here's Scott and Elise...
Adrienne said "Smile", Scott said "I am."
Really, he was fine back there- he napped and worked.

And Elise and Eliot entertained themselves and were quite delightful...
When we got to Des Moines, we dropped Scott off at his rehearsal and then checked into the hotel. We ate at "Doozie's" and went to the pool.
After a refreshing break, Scott met us back in our room and we walked together to the lawn of the State Capital where the concert was being held. We found a place to set up camp.
Yes, it was 100 degrees and hot! But, there was a great breeze and we were under some trees so it was bearable.
This is where we sat so we could see Scott...
we don't need to see the whole orchestra to hear the concert!

We played cards while we waited for the show to start.
Really, mom...a picture of the card game...?
Watching the color guard getting set up...
Our view of the band...
There's daddy!!
And there's a bunch of other people...
Scott was drenched in sweat under all those lights, but it made for a pretty stage :)
Ready for the fireworks!
Seriously,... if you've never been to Des Moines, Iowa for their 4th of July Holiday Pops concert, you are missing out. It was a great night with wonderful music and a huge fireworks display.
God Bless America!
