I can't help but wondering if this year will be the year that Scott and Elise are healed. So much of our lives revolve around health issues...mainly how does Scott feel today and how many medical bills can we pay this month. We were supposed to be in Chicago this week, but due to medical issues, we decided it would be smarter to stay home. Tonight, Eliot and Scott were supposed to see a Chicago Bulls game. Instead, they watched part of the game on TV as Eliot tried to deal with his frustration of not being able to go. He argued briefly with Elise over whose fault it was. Eliot told her it was her fault for having surgery and she replied with, "It's your fault that I had to have surgery because you sit on my bladder when we wrestle." With that odd statement Eliot looked at me and we both started laughing. I'm pretty sure that's one of the reasons God gave Elise to us- she makes us laugh! Only in her little mind could not being able to wrestle for 6 weeks due to stitches healing be construed as she had to have surgery because Eliot wrestled with her.
We did many fun things here at home this past week. One day, we braved the cold and went to Omaha to shop at Village Pointe and have lunch in the Old Market. Scott also came shopping with Eliot, Elise and me here at home and watched them have a blast spending some Christmas money. Both Adrienne and Eliot spent time with friends and went to movies. Adrienne made money by babysitting a lot and Eliot got to stay up late watching movies with me and Scott. Eliot spent every afternoon that he could at the Rec playing basketball. And today, Scott took Eliot to a Husker basketball game.
I found this quote this week that I liked;
Ring out the grief that saps the mind,
For those that here we see no more.
Ring out the feud of rich and poor;
Ring in redress of all mankind.
Ring out a slowly dying cause,
And ancient forms of party strife,
Ring in the nobler modes of life,
With sweeter manner, purer laws.
"Happy New Year", Lord Tennyson, 1850
and this prayer:
Today, Father, we surrender our past and look to the future,
thanking You that we are a new creation.
No matter what we have done before today,
we have Hope in You to take all things and use them
for the good of Your Kingdom.
Thank You that You are Faithful.
Thank You that we can make our plans but You will direct our steps.
We trust in You to do a mighty work in us and through us this year,
and carry it on to completion until the day we step into eternity with You.
In the mighty, healing, saving name of Jesus...
