You can do it- You're almost there!

What fun we had at the Pumpkin Run this morning! Lincoln Public Schools, along with community organizations, puts on a 1 mile run every year for elementary kids. Adrienne and Eliot never wanted to do it and last year there were so many kids involved that they had to cancel it for safety reasons. This year, they were back with a new format, (staggering the schools and the grades so that anyone could participate), and it was a wonderful event!  Elise decided that she wanted to do it and Eliot agreed to run with her, so we all went to cheer them on today. Because the parking situation wasn't as bad as predicted, we were early. But, that allowed us to check out the start and finish, and figure out where to stand to take pics. Elise was nervous until the gun went off and then she just had a ball!

Then we watched Lilly and her dad run the kindergarten heat...

As Lilly was coming up the last hill, Elise was screaming,
"Go, Lilly! Good job, Lilly!"

Lilly saw her and came over to get a high five- so cute!

What a great event! The best part was hearing everyone shouting encouragement to anyone who was running by. As soon as a kid heard you cheering them on, even if they were crying, they picked themselves up and kept going. Kind of reminded me of Jesus cheering us on- when we think we're finished, when we've messed up so bad or can't deal with a situation or person for one more minute, we can hear the encouragement of God... "I have you my child; pick yourself up and keep going; I believe you can do it; You are almost to the finish line!"
